Firefly – Largest Mobile Mobile Solar Power Solution – Wins Award
Firefly is the proud winner of the 2008 National Outdoor Events Association’s Green Award! The award was presented to Firefly at the annual NOEA Convention for working towards the highest standards in improving the environment and wellness at Outdoor Events. Received by Firefly Directors Andy Mead and Paul Brain they commented “The Award will help spread the word that renewable energy is fast becoming a real choice for event producers, and we are glad to be leading the way forwardâ€.
Firefly, still in its first year, is a community interest company based in Brighton which has designed and built the UK’s largest mobile solar power solution. The units, named ‘Orion’ can provide 5 to 15 Kw of mains voltage power day or night and have so far been welcomed by the industry with open arms.
Orion can be found helping to power events and festivals around the country and powering The Firefly Stage which uses low energy LED lighting and sound to deliver a large scale stage entirely run on solar power.
This summer you can find firefly at Free Range Festival, Loop Festival, Move It On The Manor, Retrofest, Strawberry Fair and Sunrise Celebration with many more still to be confirmed. Expect to see them ‘cleaning up’ in a field near you in the future!
