First Missouri duck boat lawsuit settled
The first lawsuit in the Branson duck boat tragedy last July has been settled.
The next of kin of William Bright, 65, and Janice Bright, 63 have reached a settlement with defendants Ripley Entertainment Inc.
The Brights were celebrating their 45th wedding anniversary in Branson at the time.
Apart from Ripley Entertainment, Ride the Ducks International LLC and two employees were also named as defendants.
Terms of the settlement were confidential, attorney Adam Graves said.
The lawsuit claimed negligence against the defendants.
The boart captian, who was named as a defendant, was recently indicted on several charges.
The amphibious vehicle sank on July 19 while cruising on Table Rock Lake during a severe thunderstorm.
It claimed 17 lives including nine from a single family.
A lawsuit filed by that family and ones from relatives of several victims are still active.
