First of year’s air fare war starts at $29
It took only a few days into the new year for the first airline war of 2011, reported Smarter Travel.
Southwest took the first shot but nine major carriers are also “going toe-to-toe with the low-cost king on discounted flights through May,” said Smarter.
Southwest’s newest promotion offers more than 2,400 discounted routes.
Southwest’s sale page advertises rates starting at US$29 one-way on the Los Angeles/Las Vegas route.
Other best fares cited by Smarter editor’s include a $128 flight from Seattle to Boise offered by Alaska, Delta and United. Another example: US Airways offers a $170 flight from Chicago to Orlando.
The catch is that trips must be booked by today, Thursday. Also, there are other stipulations.
