Five Gatwick workers charged with theft
Five security workers at Gatwick airport have reportedly been charged with stealing from passengers’ luggage.
According to the online news provider Ananova, the five men all work for Initial Aviation Security and were arrested in March after some £50,000-worth of goods, including laptop computers, went missing at the Sussex airport.
The website quotes a police spokesman as saying that the men were all employed as baggage screeners. They all face charges of theft from baggage, with one facing an additional charge of going equipped to steal.
A number of other people are reportedly still on bail following the arrests, which, Ananova reports, followed a joint operation by police, the Department for Transport, and BAA.
