Flight cancelled after passengers open emergency exits
A flight was cancelled after passengers opened emergency exit doors in frustration at the air conditioning being switched off.
Passengers were forced to wait in their seats after their China Eastern Airlines’ flight from Kunming to Beijing was delayed due to snow, Xinhua news agency reported.
The air conditioning had to be switched off while the plane was de-iced causing the cabin to get stuffy.
After asking to be let off the plane for health reasons and frustrated at the delays, some passengers ‘opened three emergency doors’.
The flight was cancelled and 25 passengers were detained. Two of the passengers were sentenced to 15 days in detention for violating public order, the state-run China News Service said.
The plane had already been delayed for five hours before boarding.
