Flight scratched after cat attacks co-pilot
A cat has been blamed for causing an emergency landing after it sneaked its way into the cockpit and scratched the co-pilot on the arm.
The bizarre story is today reported in The Guardian, which stated that the SN Brussels flight from Brussels to Vienna had been in the air for about 20 minutes when the incident took place.
The newspaper reports that the pet, a prized pet that was on its way to a cat show, escaped from its flight transport bag. It then “wandered around the cabin and slipped into the cockpit when meals were delivered to the flight crew”.
A statement by the airline says that the cat then became “agitated and nervous”, scratching the co-pilot. The plane then returned to Brussels, with 58 passengers being delayed by two hours before being transferred to another flight.
A spokesman for the airline reportedly said: “At no time throughout the incident was the passengers’ security affected in any way,” adding that SN Brussels would consider its policy regarding the carriage of pets one an investigation has been completed.
