Flintoff batting for Dubai
Cricket legend Andrew Freddie Flintoff will be bowling into WTM this November to help Dubai’s tourism chiefs promote the destination and its sporting fixtures.
Flintoff lived in the emirate during 2010 and will be helping the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) to highlight to agents Dubai’s sporting dates including the England v Pakistan test match in January and February 2012.
Director UK and Ireland for the DTCM Ian Scott said: “With the help of such a sporting icon, the exhibition will again provide an excellent platform for us and many of Dubai’s leading industry partners to promote Dubai and showcase its diversity, reinforcing its position as one of the world’s most important tourism destinations.
"The exhibition will also enable us to further educate travel agents and build relationships with key tour operator partners. With continually increasing international visitor numbers and many inspirational developments scheduled for opening in 2012, we are anticipating a successful and busy WTM."
Freddie will be at the Dubai stand, ME200, on the afternoon of Monday November 7.
The stand will also offer agents a culture and heritage area where they can have a henna tattoo, get their name written in Arabic script, meet two falcons and get firsthand Dubai product knowledge from Emirati students.
