Florida travel trade fair attracts over 200 buyers
The Florida tourism industry has kicked off 2014 with a successful Florida Huddle – the state’s longest running travel trade event.
Held at Palm Beach County Convention Center, it was the 38th edition of this annual event and the first since it was acquired by VISIT FLORIDA, the state’s official tourism marketing organization.
Statistics released showed a total of 619 delegates attended from 345 tourism-related companies.
Florida Huddle again had a strong international presence, attracting 203 buyers, a year-on-year increase of 14%, from 19 countries including Australia, Brazil, Russian Federation, South Africa and Central America.
During the three-day event, which concluded on January 16, there were 177 appointment-taking suppliers representing destinations, attractions and resorts from every region of Florida.
Major brands in attendance included Walt Disney World, Universal Orlando and Best Western.
In all, there were over 10,000 appointments scheduled with a revamped format this year allowing for two full days of meetings for buyers and sellers.
Aside from scheduling and appointments sessions, delegates enjoyed an opening night gala at The Breakers Palm Beach Hotel, media events and a fun run.
