Florida vacations just the ticket for hurricane victims
Florida attractions familiar with the devastating impact of storms have come up with an unusual way to help those affected by Katrina, and at the same time promote the state as well.
A variety of Florida vacations are being auctioned on eBay, with 100% of the profits earmarked for Hurricane Katrina victims.
Florida’s state tourism agency, in conjunction with industry members, are donating the travel packages. They include golf vacations, spa trips and others. The vacations also include round-trip airline tickets.
Bids start at $75 for vacations.
The project will also stimulate the local economy, said Bud Nocera, president of Visit Florida.
Travelers who do not want to come to Florida can donate frequent-flier miles to Katrina evacuees.
