Florida’s Seven Wonders of the World
Florida now has its own Seven Wonders with Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden at the top of the list in a survey by readers of the Miami Herald.
The newspaper’s campaign to find Florida’s Seven Wonders was inspired by a recent international program that designated the new Seven Wonders of the World.
The newspaper asked for nominations and then listed the twenty-one most popular on their website. Nominees could be natural or man-made – but had to reflect the state’s beauty, history or culture.
Throughout last month, Herald readers were asked to vote for their favorites.
After Fairchild (in Miami) the other top winners included the Everglades, Historic St. Augustine, the Reefs of the Florida Keys, Vizcaya Museum in Miami. Old Town Key West and the Kennedy Space Center.
