Flybe claims rising Bank Holiday demand for UK routes

Wednesday, 30 Apr, 2008 0

UK domestic routes are proving the most popular over the May Day Bank Holiday weekend with Flybe reporting passenger numbers up by almost 20% year-on-year.

The biggest demand has been for flights between Belfast City and Manchester, although Birmingham, Edinburgh, Gatwick and Southampton are proving to be popular destinations, according to the regional airline.

Chief commercial officer Mike Rutter said: “When you also take into consideration the added value of avoiding frustrating, time-consuming and environmentally damaging motorway queues – not to mention the economic benefit from savings made on the ever increasing cost of petrol and diesel – choosing to travel with Flybe’s efficient and friendly service makes even more sense than usual.”

Flybe’s top 10 routes for the May Bank Holiday:

1.      Belfast City to Manchester

2.      Jersey to Gatwick

3.      Guernsey to Gatwick

4.      Belfast City to Gatwick

5.      Edinburgh to Southampton

6.      Inverness to Gatwick

7.      Belfast City to Birmingham

8.      Jersey to Southampton

9.      Birmingham to Edinburgh

10.     Glasgow to Southampton
