flyMonarch.com claims ‘first’ with PayPal flight payments
Low fares airline flyMonarch.com is to enable tickets to be paid for via online payment system PayPal.
It claims to be the first European airline to offer passengers the ability to pay for flights using PayPal accounts. PayPal claims to have more than 15 million UK accounts.
The PayPal payment option is being offered as an alternative to debit and credit card transactions.
FlyMonarch.com managing director Liz Savage said: “Being the first European airline to offer the PayPal payment option is great news for our customers, many of whom are already PayPal account holders, and will help to further streamline our online booking process on flyMonarch.com.
“It also gives registered travel agents who book on flyMonarch.com another flexible way to pay and manage their booking activity without having to rely on credit or debit cards.”
Cameron McLean, PayPal general manager of merchant services at PayPal said: “We decided to launch with flyMonarch.com first as they are clearly innovators in the airline industry, focused on constantly improving the customers’ experience, matching PayPal’s ethos.
“Online shopping amongst UK adults has increased by 157% in the last five years with 28 million adults actively transacting on the cyber high street, buying flights has never been easier or more secure.”
