Foreign Office issues new Kenya warning
British holidaymakers are being warned not to travel to parts of the Kenya coast following a string of terrorist attacks which have left at least 85 people dead.
In updating its travel advice for the country, the Foreign Office said Britons should avoid Lamu County and areas of Tana River County, north of the Tana River.
It was already warning against travel to parts of the coast around Mombasa, including Mombasa island and within five kilometers of the coast from Mtwapa creek in the north down to and including Tiwi in the south, but excluding Diani and the international airport.
The advice led to Thomson and First Choice evacuating around 500 holidaymakers from the area. Both tour operators have cancelled flights to Mombasa until November.
