Former Ryanair exec boosts Air Transat’s growth in UK
Air Transat has appointed a former Ryanair executive as its UK director of sales as it increases flights to the UK.
For summer 2015, there will be a new service from Gatwick to St John’s, Newfoundland, and an increased number of flights from Gatwick to Toronto, Vancouver and Montreal.
Lesley Kane, 41, has been appointed director of sales, UK& Ireland at the Canadian airline, joining from Ryanair after 18 years.
Most recently, she was the low cost airline’s head of corporate travel & groups, and previously head of sales & marketing, Europe.
Kane will report directly to Kathryn Munro, general manager UK & Ireland, and managing director of its sister company Canadian Affair.
Munro said: “Lesley’s extensive experience of airline sales, marketing and customer management makes her an excellent fit for our team.
“The months and year ahead are important ones as Air Transat grows its position in the UK and Ireland through a mix of new services, increased frequencies and larger aircraft, and Lesley will play a key role in that evolution.”
Air Transat flies year-round from Gatwick, Manchester and Glasgow to Toronto, and from Gatwick to Calgary and Vancouver.
In summer, it flies from Gatwick to Montreal, Halifax, and St John’s, from Birmingham to Toronto, Glasgow and Manchester to Calgary and Vancouver, and from Dublin to Toronto and Montreal.
