Fort Lauderdale leans to luxury
The Florida area once famous for its college spring breakers (“Where The Boys Are”) these days is headed in another direction: luxury.
Both a St. Regis and a W hotel, both firsts in the state of Florida, are headed for Fort Lauderdale.
The 166-room St. Regis due to open the end of this year will also offer 24,000 square feet of meeting space, including an 8,400 square foot Grand Ballroom.
The $220 million W Fort Lauderdale Hotel and Residences is set to open in early 2008. But that’s only the beginning of coming attractions.
Donald Trump has two, new five-star condo hotel developments planned for Fort Lauderdale Beach. Construction has started on the 24-story Trump Hotel & Tower.
Recently opened properties include the 229-room Hollywood Beach Marriott and the 124-suite Atlantic, which overlooks the beach.
