Four die in Cancun boat accident
Four tourists have died after a boat sank between CancĂșn and Isla Mujeres.
All those who died were Mexican nationals, the attorney general of Quintana Roo state said.
The boat, Diosa del Mar, was carrying 19 people.
Isla Mujeres is just over three miles offshore from CancĂșn.
Most of the other boat occupants had to be rescued with several taken to hospital.
Some have serious physical injuries while others are receiving treatment for trauma.
âWe are analyzing the weather conditions and the boat’s capacity, whether it had the capacity to carry those 19 people,â the attorney generalâs office said.
Riviera Maya News said the fatalities were one woman, two men, and a 10-year-old boy.
Authorities are questioning the captain âto clear up responsibility,â an Isla Mujeres government spokesperson said.
