France to relax travel restrictions from the UK
France is set to ease travel restrictions from the UK, a French government spokesman said.
Government spokesman Gabriel Attal said the list of ‘compelling reasons’ will be broadened to allow more people to travel.
Attal said it will expand options for travel for ‘professional reasons.’
No specific details have been given disclosed yet, although Attal said it will become a ‘bit easier’ to enter France.
Additionally, further easing could be on the way as ‘the Omicron variant is affecting both countries in a similar manner.’
France has experienced a huge surge in Covid cases fuelled by Omicron with over 330,000 cases in the past day.
Infection rates have reached ‘stratospheric levels’ in areas in and surrounding Paris, and other cities.
France banned most travel from the UK before Christmas with very limited exemptions.
