Fred Olsen bosses fly out to Tenerife to brief Boudicca passengers
Fred Olsen bosses flew out to Tenerife on Tuesday night to meet with passengers on board Boudicca which suffered an engine fire at the weekend.
Managing director Mike Rodwell and a team from the cruise line’s Suffolk head office planned to welcome guests as they arrived in port and inform them of a change of itinerary.
Boudicca will stay in Tenerife for two days while the cruise line will try to repair two main engines and electrical cables.
"Guests will then be notified of a revised itinerary for their cruise," said the cruise line in a statement.
Following the fire in the early hours of Sunday morning, the 880-guest ship had continued with its sailing, but at a slower speed.
It was on an 18-night ‘Cape Verde & the Canaries’ cruise and was scheduled to arrive in Arrecife, Lanzarote on Monday morning.
A statement on the Fred Olsen website said future bookings have been unaffected.
It said one passenger, currently on board Boudicca, has even booked their next holiday for March 2016.
