Fred Olsen cancels cruise following onboard blaze
Fred Olsen Cruise Lines has cancelled the next departure of the Black Watch following a fire in the ship’s engine room.
The blaze left around 700 passengers stranded in Madeira last weekend, before they were flown home yesterday, cutting short their 13-night cruise around Portugal.
The cruise line announced today that its Cruising the Fjordland itinerary, due to depart from Tilbury on July 8, has also been cancelled.
It blamed ‘technical and operational issues’ onboard Black Watch.
It added: "We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience and disappointment this will cause."
