Freddie Awards name best frequent-traveler programs
American Airlines’ Aadvantage program, the travel industry’s very first loyalty program, still is a winner.
Aadvantage dominated the US categories in the annual Freddie Awards this year, taking three of the five airline prizes, including Program of the Year and Best Elite Level.
Among the hotels, Marriott took four of the five awards, though Hyatt won for Best Elite Level.
Southwest won two awards, for best customer service and best affinity credit card.
In Europe, AirFrance/KLM dominated, taking four of the five airline awards, while SAS won for customer service. But hotels were more split, with Starwood and Accor winning two each.
Virgin Australia won the most awards in Asia; in the hotel category, Hyatt won the most awards but Intercontinental and Holiday Inn parent IHG took Program of the Year.
