Freedom agents gain low cost airline booking tool
Members of the Freedom travel agents’ consortium will be able to book no-frills carriers with the adoption of new technology.
The group has started using Dolphin’s Flight Scanner system, following concern that agents were finding it hard to secure flights with low cost carriers.
The Freedom company credit card is pre-loaded into the system, allowing members to book directly on low cost carriers’ websites. The details of the credit card are encrypted and the booking can then be loaded on to the consortium’s TARSC accounting system in the normal manner.
A fee will be paid by Freedom members for use of the Dolphin Flight Scanner system with agents paying £5 per user per month for one-two unique users, £4 per user per month for three-four unique users and £3 per user per month for six-10 unique users.
Freedom general manager Trevor Davis said: “A lot of people don’t realise the financial difficulties smaller travel agent face when booking low cost flights.
“It’s tough enough with increased competition from the internet, direct sell from tour operators and reduced commission rates without having to worry about the initial overheads of paying for flights in advance.
“We have used our collective strength to provide an ideal solution. Members can trade safe in the knowledge that they are able to compete and Freedom, as an organisation, also knows they are providing the best opportunities for success to our members.”
