French resort promises snow-sure slopes this winter
After the much-publicised poor start to the ski season last year, when many resorts in Europe had little or no snow before Christmas, the French resort of Val d’Isere is promising its slopes will be snow-covered from its opening weekend at the end of November to the beginning of May.
It says it can make the bold pledge due to its high altitude, pretty much guaranteeing natural cover, plus its investment in Europe’s largest snow-making operation.
The resort will open on November 28 and although few tour operators will offer packages this early in the season, visitors to valdisere.com can pick up special offers such as two nights in an apartment from £109 per person, including lift passes but excluding travel.
