Frontier launches 14 new routes from DC
Low cost carrier Frontier Airlines is coming to Washington Dulles airport with the launch of over a dozen routes starting this summer.
A total of 14 new cities are being served from DC, launched in two phases, starting with Atlanta, Charlotte, Orlando, Minneapolis, Chicago, and Tampa from August 19.
From September 8 onwards, new departures include Cincinnati, Detroit, Fort Lauderdale, Las Vegas, Memphis, Fort Myers, Florida, and St. Louis.
Denver-based Frontier announced a new ultra-low cost pricing model recently, with deeply discounted base fares with additional fees for extras such as use of overhead bins, seat allocation and extra legroom.
Frontier kicked off the news with a 12-hour flash sale at $15 one-way on all routes for travel by November 19.
Within hours, the airline was unsurprisingly inundated with website traffic and struggled to keep up with the high demand for bargain priced tickets.
Frontier says fares as low as $39 will still be available for bookings until May 17.
The carrier also operates flights out of nearby Reagan National and Baltimore-Washington airports.
