Galaxy launches online distribution system
An online distribution system has been launched that hopes to be the leading GDS for non-air products.
Galaxy Distribution System Ltd has secured three IATA agents for its Travel Distribution System (Galaxy TDS). UK and Ireland general manager, Martin Bamford told TravelMole: “The response from the tour operators and travel agents has been only favourable, with the ease of operation and system flexibility being the most common compliment.
“They are also very pleased to be working with a system that will be handling all of the payment issues through BSP – a tried, tested and well respected organisation.”
Galaxy TDS is a sales distribution and booking platform which gives agents access to hotel rates, transfers, city packages and tours. All booking segments are integrated into a Passenger Name Record (PNR) and billing and collection is done through IATA’s Billing and Settlement Plan (BSP).
Galaxy TDS president and chief executive, Paul Casey said: “Just as the GDSs revolutionised the air reservation and ticketing business, so too does Galaxy TDS revolutionise everything else in the non-air travel world.”
There are currently 11 tour operators in the UK signed up to display rates on Galaxy TDS, and two more operators will be joining shortly including one in Ireland.
Galaxy is planning email and faxshots to agents in UK and Ireland in July, and Mr Bamford said he expects these figures to increase very shortly.
