Galileo gets no-frills fare access

Galileo has teamed up with technology firm, AgentWare to give agents access to web fares.

AgentWare’s search and booking tool, WebPoint, gives Galileo agents in North America using FocalPoint, the opportunity to search and book web fares from around 33 websites, in addition to private fares and published fares. Websites include no-frills carriers like Ryanair, and websites such as Opodo.

WebPoint is available to Galileo desktop users by clicking on the WebFares Shopping tool icon. AgentWare director of marketing, Ricks Tucker, told TravelMole that he hoped it would be available to Galileo agents in the UK and the rest of Europe by the end of the year.

Galileo has piloted WebPoint since June with over 40 US agents including Best Travel, which offers corporate, leisure and luxury travel services. It’s vice president, Judy Anglada, was reported to have said: “This product adds value to the service fee we charge our corporate accounts. We have found that the majority of our travelers stay with the published GDS fares, however they now have the peace of mind that they made the best choice after comparing all possible options”.

The solution also gives agents the ability to save fare search results from airline and low fare websites, and place them into their customers’ PNR (Passenger Name Record) for auditing and report generation.

Agents can also purchase WebPoint direct from AgentWare for $1500 set up and $35 per month per username. A price has not yet been decided for the UK, but Mr Tucker said: “We are anxious to get started in the UK”.
