Galileo in Travel 2/4 fares tie-up
Travel2/4’s seat only consolidated air fares are being made available to agents via sister company Galileo.
A joint initiative between the operator and the GDS – both part of the Cendant Travel Distribution Services group – will provide direct access to the fares via a new fifth window on the agent’s Galileo desktop, which provides a direct link to Travel 2/4.
Fares from Air France, British Airways, KLM, Lufthansa, Singapore Airlines and United Airlines will be available initially, with more carriers being introduced in the coming months.
Agents will be able to search for specific fares, make bookings directly via Galileo, then queue the booking across to Travel 2/4 when they require ticketing.
The fifth window also interfaces with agency back- and mid-office systems, enabling agents to produce internal and external management information records.
Travel 2/4 sale director David Holland said: “Galileo will provide agents with unique, 24-hour access to thousands of our consolidated scheduled air fares with no need to pick up the phone.
“It’s very convenient for them to use: the fifth window sits on the agent’s existing desktop and employs exactly the same formats as Galileo. It’s a very exciting development for us and one which we expect to prove hugely popular with our travel agent customers.
“It also demonstrates how different companies within Cendant Travel Distribution Services can combine to offer new opportunities for the trade.”
Holland added that the fifth Galileo window is the first of a number of new technology initiatives to be introduced over the next few months, designed to offer agents faster access to a wider range of Travel 2/4 products.
Galileo UK country manager Jason Clarke said: “We are delighted to be working in partnership with Travel 2/4 to introduce new content in Galileo – something not offered by any other GDS or operator.”
