Gap Adventures heeds trade advice

MELBOURNE – Gap Adventures has introduced simpler payment options for its tours.

The small group adventure travel operator no longer requires travellers to pay a portion of their tour price locally on the first day of a trip.

This ‘local payment’ is now being included in the pricing displayed on the Gap Adventures website.

Overall tour prices remain the same and passengers who booked before October 1 will be given the option of pre-paying local charges, while the revised price plan will apply to all tours booked after that date.

Some local park fees and charges still apply on certain tours.

The payment adjustment provides a financial benefit for agents and trade partners who will now earn commission on the full sale price of a tour, including any portion of the price previously listed as a local payment.

Pete Rawley, general manager of Gap Adventures for Australia, NZ and Asia, said the comapny had listened to its trade partners.

“When it emerged that our trade partners had a preference for one all-inclusive price for our tours, we took steps to implement this,” Rawley said.
