SYDNEY – Garuda Indonesia has appointed ICON International Communications as its regional public relations partner for Australia and South East Asia.

As part of the appointment, ICON’s Sydney and Singapore offices will manage all media, analyst and industry relations across the region covering Australia, Brunei, Hong Kong, India, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
The agency’s Australian arm will also undertake a comprehensive audit of the airline’s crisis communication procedures in Australia, as well as a review of internal communication protocols and standards.

Chris Gray, managing director of ICON’s Australian operations, said the appointment comes at a time of significant change for Garuda Indonesia.
“The next 12-18 months look like being an exciting period for the company as it seeks to stamp itself as a leading regional and international airline.â€
Garuda’s latest annual results showed a net profit of
USD65.2 million. The carrier has also unveiled a refreshed corporate livery and taken delivery of the first of a new fleet of Airbus A330 wide-bodied aircraft.
