Gas prices starting to deter some American vacation-goers
Rising gas prices are starting to influence the summer vacation plans of Americans, according to a new survey.
One out of every four or 25% of adults said they are changing travel plans because of higher gas costs in a survey commissioned by CGPR, a Massachusetts-based public relations firm, conducted by Harris Interactive.
Some of those polled planned a shorter vacation because of gas prices.
At the same time, another 30% said they were undeterred by higher prices at the pump.
And even with the gas prices, over half or 54% said they planned to take an outdoor vacation this summer.
Two-thirds of those polled considered it important to introduce their children to outdoor activities and nature.
The survey showed the need of businesses to convince American consumers that outdoor recreation has enormous benefits, said Chris Goddard, president of CGPR.
