Gatwick baggage update
Gatwick Airport is reporting there has been no repeat of the baggage problems that hit the airport a week ago.
Its Twitter page says it continues to ‘work hard’ with baggage handlers and does not foresee any more issues this weekend throughout this week.
The airport has drafted in an extra 60 staff this weekend to ensure there wasn’t a repeat of last weekend’s trouble.
Baggage-handling company Swissport has also brought in 40 extra employees.
Swissport blamed last week’s delays on staff shortages and too many aircraft arriving in quick succession. It apologised for the disruption.
