GBTA news: Travel spend outlook and Europe conference keynote
A new study by the Global Business Travel Association (GBTA) predicts that travel spending for 2013 will reach $273.3 billion, a 4.3% increase over 2012.
The GBTA’s BTI™ Outlook – United States 2013 Q2 also predicts that international outbound business travel spend will grow by 3.0% in 2013, to $33.1 billion.
Group travel spending is expected to rise by 5.3%, to $117.1 billion, though the volume will fall slightly (by 0.3%) to 166 million person-trips, driven by continued corporate constraints on meetings.
The GBTA yesterday also announced that change expert Didier Marlier will be the closing keynote speaker at the GBTA Europe Conference 2013, being held in Prague, Czech Republic, September 23-25.
Marlier is managing partner of the Enablers Network, a former INSEAD professor, and co-author of best-selling business book "Engaging Leadership."
He will work with the audience in an original and unusual manner, teaching effective leadership through times of change, and drawing upon the key points discussed during the conference.
The conference has been designed to look at creative solutions in three key aspects of travel management: strategy, technology and delivery.
"We hope our delegates will leave with insight of the changing nature of the industry to come, and equipped with the latest thinking on how to respond to these challenges," said Catherine McGavock, GBTA’s Regional Director for Europe.
"Didier’s session is the last piece in the jigsaw – how to find the courage and inspiration to lead the necessary programmes of change.’
