Genesis: now live
The agent-owned GDS, Genesis, went live in Canada following a long testing period.
Said Brian Bishins, Genesis’ president and CEO:
“Their (agents) vision and tenacity in making Genesis a reality is testimony to a resilient agency community which understands the stewardship of travel distribution technology is the key to success and profitability in the agency sales channel.”
He said the GDS alternative is geared to small and medium-sized agencies who often don’t want to commit to GDS minimum productivity requirements or segment thresholds.
Genesis is an “ideal platform for IATA-and ARC-appointed agencies,” as well as those without industry appointments such as the fast-growing US home-based agencies, according to Mr Bishins.
Genesis utilizes an internet-based platform that incorporates FareSpider, a low fare search and booking tool.
Genesis plans an early 2005 launch for the US, Mexico, and Europe.
