Genting Cruise Line partners with Wirecard to streamline shipboard payments
Genting Cruise Line’s Asia brands Dream Cruises and Star Cruises have tapped Wirecard to streamline shipboard payments.
The brands will adopt the Quick Pay self-checkout system, which is implemented on Dream Cruises’ World Dream and Genting Dream, and on Star Cruises’ SuperStar Virgo shortly.
The Self-Checkout System gives guests full control over their cruise budget with tools to set pre-authorised spending limit, managing accounts for friends and family and monitor shipboard spend.
"The guest experience on board our Dream Cruises fleet is of primary importance and anywhere we can remove friction and streamline process is a great benefit to our passengers," said Thatcher Brown, president of Dream Cruises.
"Our partnership with Wirecard enables us to simplify one of the most maligned aspects of travel – lining up to settle the bill at the end of a vacation.
Guests can scan QR codes during check-in or in their cabins to set up a Quick Pay account or sign up online through the shipboard Wi-Fi.
It allows payments to be processed via Alipay, Mastercard, Visa, American Express, Diners Club, JCB and Union Pay, with more payment options promised in the future.
"As an innovative leader in the digital landscape of payments, Wirecard is able to help enhance the guest experience by delivering a seamless digitalised payment process on board," said Judith Loh, head of relationship management, APAC Sales at Wirecard.
