Genting shows off plans for Vegas mega casino resort
After clearing the first hurdle in its push for a gaming license, Genting Group has outlined plans for its highly anticipated Resorts World Las Vegas casino project.
Nevada Gaming Control Board officials have recommended a gaming license for the project which will be further scrutinized by the Nevada Gaming Commission later this month.
Genting are proposing a $4 billion Asian-themed resort on the site of the old Stardust casino featuring up to 3,000 hotel rooms, a 100,000 square feet casino, and a 4,000-seat theater.
The second phase of the project will also include 30 F&B outlets, an aquarium, waterpark, and a one-million square feet convention center.
Genting executives said it will be aimed at the growing number of Asian visitors to Sin City with Asian-inspired design and a Chinese village style shopping center.
Resorts World Las Vegas plans to break ground later this year and the three-year project will directly generate over 8,000 jobs.
"Our goal at Resorts World Las Vegas is to complement existing properties and bring a new and unique entertainment destination to the Las Vegas Strip," said Genting chairman KT Lim.
Genting Group also operates large scale destination resorts in the US, Malaysia, Singapore and the UK, employing over 55,000 people.
