Germany bans UK visitors over VOC fears
Germany banned most travel from the UK, citing the spread of infectious variants.
It added the UK to its list of ‘areas with variant of concern,’ due to the presence of the Indian variant on British soil.
The ban officially became effective on 23 May.
The ban exempts German nationals and those with residence rights, as well as transit passengers.
However, all people permitted to travel to Germany from the UK must quarantine for two weeks upon arrival.
According to official UK data, more than 3,000 cases of the Indian variant have been recorded.
