Going to Barbados? Bring your passport
The country of Barbados became the latest to tighten security, saying Canadians and US citizens starting March 1 will be required to have a valid passport to visit. In the early 1970s, Barbados relaxed entry requirements for North American citizens to attract more visitors. Until now, photo ID’s and proof of citizenship were all that were required for entry. Tourism officials said, however, this was not viewed as a major change or inconvenience. One reason is that less than 1% of visitors from the US and Canada arrive without a passport, officials said. Cruise ship passengers are exempt from the passport requirement. Report by David WIlkening
