GOL-Azul merger scrapped
The big Brazil airline merger is off.
Abra, parent company GOL Linhas Aéreas has called time on the talks to merge the business with Azul.
There have been more than six months of talks, with little progress according to Abra.
This is in part to Azul’s restructuring process under Chapter 11 protection in the US.
The two airlines signed a MoU to explore a merger in early 2025.
Abra also announced GOL will end its codeshare agreements with Azul which began last year.
However, GOL will honor all tickets already sold under the existing codeshare partnership.
GOL only recently itself exited Chapter 11 restructuring.
Azul had not yet officially responded to Abra’s announcement.
