Gold Coast puts colour into the Commonwealth
Australia’s Gold Coast has revealed the multi-coloured logo for the 2018 Commonwealth Games.
The emblem’s design incorporates athletes including a swimmer, a gymnast and a hurdler against the colours of the Gold Coast.
Queensland tourism minister Jann Stuckey said the emblem was inspired by the Gold Coast’s "stunning beach side location, its iconic skyline".
She said the colours were "representative of the coast, the hinterland and the celebratory atmosphere which is synonymous with the region".
A countdown clock in Surfers Paradise has also been unveiled, signalling exactly five years until the Games get under way.
