Greater Fort Lauderdale CVB names convention sales SVP
The Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention & Visitors Bureau has named Ed Simon as new senior vice president of convention sales & services.
Simon joins on February 26, and is tasked with leading the strategic and tactical efforts for the Broward County Convention Center’s major expansion which includes 500,000 square feet of extra meeting space and a 800-room hotel.
"With development at its peak, and a growing international reputation for Greater Fort Lauderdale, the timing is ideal to launch a determined and fresh approach to group sales development. I’m excited to join the innovators at the Bureau to help lead a new pathway to success,"he said.
He brings more than 20 years’ leadership experience within the hospitality industry and established the Association Meeting Buyers Collective, a membership based organization created to optimize the buying power for the association industry.
Previously he was vice president of sales for Destination Hotels and also worked as Remington Hotels and Associated Luxury Hotels in senior sales VP positions.
