Greece paralysed by 24-hour strike
A 24-hour strike by Greek public sector workers has crippled the country’s transport systems.
The strike saw flights and ferry services cancelled, government offices and tourist sites closed.
Dozens of stone-throwing youths clashed with police in Athens as public sector workers protested Greece’s austerity measures.
The general strike is the first since the Greek government announced an emergency property tax and the suspension of 30,000 public sector staff last month in a bid to cut national debt.
