Greg Norman tees off as Vietnam tourism ambassador
The Great White Shark is the new face of Vietnam tourism.
Minister of culture, sports and tourism, Nguyen Ngoc Thien unveiled Aussie golf legend Greg Norman as the country’s tourism ambassador.
Norman was originally nominated for the role by a media organisation which was agreed by the ministry.
Minister Thien says Norman’s past exploits as a pro and his successful golf course design business will be a boon to the country’s burgeoning golf tourism sector.
Norman has already designed three championship courses in Vietnam.
Norman has already presented a tourism promotion plan for the next three years.
It will be focused on promoting golf tourism domestically and in overseas markets via international tournaments and events.
"My responsibility is to promote Vietnam tourism to the world through this sport," he said.
According to Vietnam National Administration of Tourism data, 12.8 million tourists visited during the first 10 months of the year, which is up more than 20%.
Norman further said golf in Vietnam is experiencing the fastest growth right now of any country he has ever seen.
