Ground stop at JFK due to emergency landing
New York JFK Airport had a brief ground stop placed on it this afternoon due to an emergency landing.
The airport cleared the way for Delta Flight 183 from Rome to land after it developed a hydraulic malfunction.
The plane landed safely without any reports of injuries but had to be towed to the gate.
“Delta Air Lines Flight 183 landed safely after the crew reported a hydraulic issue,’ the FAA confirmed.
The Airbus A330-300 jet was carrying 266 passengers.
The jet was taken out of service for maintenance checks.
“Nothing is more important than the safety of our customers and people, and that’s why our flight crew and JFK team followed standard procedures,’ a Delta spokesperson said.
The Port Authority said was ‘minimal impact’ on flight operations.
The ground stop lasted about one hour.
“Operations are normal after the FAA briefly slowed arrivals and departures because the aircraft was disabled on the runway,’ the FAA added.
