Groupon users can now earn airline miles and hotel points
Deals marketplace Groupon has inked a loyalty partnership with Points’ Loyalty Platform to offer airline miles and hotel rewards for purchases.
With immediate effect Groupon users can start earning miles and hotel points for purchases of Groupon local, travel or shopping deals.
The Points loyalty network includes the rewards programs of Alaska Airlines, JetBlue, La Quinta IHG and Choice Hotels.
"We’re excited to have more frequent interactions with our customers by providing them with even greater value when they shop through Groupon," said Vinayak Hegde, SVP of global marketing, Groupon.
"We’re offering incredible savings and airline miles or hotel points from your favorite loyalty programs. A win-win."
During each Groupon purchase, users click on the relevant loyalty program they would like the reward assigned to and then enter their loyalty program membership number.
Users then receive a unique promo code to enter for each purchase to receive points or miles.
For airlines, Groupon users receive up to five miles per dollar spent and up to 10 points per dollar for hotel programs.
Groupon says it hopes to add more brands to the loyalty platform in the future and expand eligibility to international customers.
