Growth in younger traveller market
Trafalgar has experienced strong forward sales for the 2006 season; with its Europe first class and Breakaway program for 21-38 year olds touring programs performing particularly well.
Paul Wiseman, managing director of Trafalgar said, “All the indications are that 2006 will be a fantastic year for the travel industry – perhaps even better than 2005. Trafalgar begins 2006 in a strong position with our overall sales currently up 10% on 2005.
“The market in general is looking very buoyant and growth on our first class program means that in 2006 travellers seem have the funds and the desire to upgrade from a CostSaver tour to a first class tour.
“This trend is great news for agents as it is a fantastic opportunity to upsell to clients and earn more commission on our high yield first class products.
“High numbers of early bookings on our Breakaway program also indicates that the youth market will also perform well in 2006.
“The increased popularity of Breakaway in 2006 can in part be attributed to the redesign of the brochure which has been given a modern, fun look for 2006 but the main reason behind its success is that it offers younger travellers a different way to discover the sights and experiences of Europe with 9am starts, two night stops in all main cities, late night transfers and local restaurant dinners.
“Canada and America will also very popular with Australian travellers in 2006 – we are currently showing over 25% growth to these destinations.”
