Guest killed by freak wave on Antarctic cruise
A cruise ship guest died when an Antarctic cruise ship was hit by a huge wave.
Four others were injured when the rogue wave slammed the Viking Polaris, anchored off Ushuaia in Argentina.
The ship sustained some damage.
The Viking Polaris was on an Antarctic cruise and the newest ship in Viking’s fleet.
“We confirm a guest passed away following the incident. We have notified the family and shared our deepest sympathies,” Viking said in a statement.
Rogue waves can appear abruptly and are hard to predict.
Some are large enough to capsize large ships.
