HAL names new ship
Nieuw Amsterdam is the name of Holland America Line’s 15th ship to be delivered in 2010.
The 86,000-ton vessel will feature interior design and an art collection the will reflect New York City, formerly called Nieuw Amsterdam.
The 2,106-passenger Signature Class ship will become sister vessel to Eurodam, launched earlier this year.
HAL president and CEO Stein Kruse said: “This name has a rich heritage in our company with this ship being our fourth in 135 years. We are proud to extend this illustrious ship name to our current fleet.”
