Half Moon, the 400-acre luxury resort in Montego Bay, Jamaica, is to be the lead sponsor and host of the 49th Jamaican Open being held from November 28-December 1.

The golf tournament will be held on Half Moon’s Robert Trent Jones Sr-designed par-72 course, which has a reputation as one of the best walking courses in the Caribbean.

The event will include an 18-hole pro-am and 54-hole stroke play tournament where golf professionals from the US, Canada, Europe, Latin and South America and the Caribbean compete for the Jamaica Open trophy and cash prize.

"We are committed to supporting the Jamaica Golf Association in its mission to foster and promote the development of golf in Jamaica," said Aram Zerunian, Half Moon’s general manager.

Golfers can take advantage of Half Moon’s special Jamaica Open rates starting at USD215 per night single occupancy and USD240 per night double.

The 2011 event was won by American Senior pro Russ Cochran who shot a 10-under-par 206.
