Half of Heathrow noise complaints come from 10 people
Data released by Heathrow Airport has shown that just under half of the 25,200 noise complaints it received this summer were from the same 10 people.
Three individuals complained more than 1,280 times each over a three-month period, which means they complained an average of nearly 14 times a day.
The airport, which has just been given approval for a third runway, said it received, on average, 274 complaints every day for the three months of July, August and September.
Most of the complaints came from people living in Slough (3,944), but these were from only 22 people.
In total complaints came from 2,128 people, but 49% of complaints were from just 10 individuals.
Last year, the airport accused anti-expansion campaigners of using automated software to email complaints whenever an aircraft was due to fly overhead.
It said it discovered that technology was being used when the people operating it forgot to turn the clocks back in the autumn, which meant dozens of email complaints were received before flights were even operating.
