Hangzhou chases Islamic business
DUBAI – Hangzhou has made an impression this week by becoming the first city from China to appear at Arabian Travel Market.
Hangzhou brought a delegation of 150 to ATM, including several high-ranking local tourism and convention and exhibition officials.
The party included Li Hong, director off the Hangzhou Tourism Commission.
Together with its presence at ATM, Hangzhou hosted a three-hour presentation at the Fairmont Hotel in Dubai which included performances by a Hangzhou cultural troupe, video shows and several speeches by dignitaries.
Hangzhou is hoping to capitalise on increased air connectivity between the Gulf region and China.
Although no direct flights are available to Hangzhou from the UAE, visitors can fly to Shanghai, from where express buses cover the journey to Hangzhou in two hours.
