Hatless pilots protesting lack of management sacrifice
If you wondered why you saw American Airlines pilots going hatless this week, there’s a reason.
The move was made to show displeasure with “management for talking about sharing profits while compensating themselves far more than rank-and-file employees,” says Pacific Business News (PBN)
PBN adds that the pilots’ decision to remove their caps “was described by the union as a hats-off salute to 80,000 line employees for their more than $7 billion in contract givebacks.
Allied Pilots Association President Ralph Hunter said executive compensation in the same time period grew 700%.” He adds:
“It is time to recognize the contributions of the thousands of AA employees who made the real sacrifices, and it is also time to shine a spotlight of shame on the handful of executives who have monopolized the rewards.”
